One Prawn & Co - Rich, Silky and Highly Aromatic Prawn Broth

Prepared with over 48kg of prawn heads and pork bones, constantly boiling at high temperatures to extract the flavour out of each prawn head, One Prawn & Co helmed by Chef Gwyneth Ang is known for its rich, silky and highly aromatic prawn broth.

Starting from $14.00, the menu is divided into 2 categories: Big Prawns / Jumbo Prawns, each has 6 different options.

Dry Noodles are tossed with Homemade Sambal Chilli Sauce, topped with crunchy Pork Lard. Sinfully shiok.

For those who wants to try everything in 1 pot, highly recommend going for the Five Fortune Jumbo Prawns Claypot ($30.00) which includes Jumbo Prawns, Braised Pork Ribs, Shabu Sliced Pork, Lala and Tobiko Prawn Ball

Shabu Sliced Pork & Prawn ($14.00)

Don’t forget to order their Freshly Fried Ngoh Hiang to go along with the Prawn Mee.

They are currently open on Tue to Sun, 11am to 5pm only.

Rad Dish萝卜方, one of the crispiest fried carrot cake!

Rad Dish萝卜方 opened in July 2021 at Blk 505 West Coast Drive is worth a try! One of the best Fried Carrot Cake I have tried. I will usually order the black carrot cake, but I decided to go for the white carrot cake as it looks so crispy.

This beautifully presented plate of white carrot cake is pan-fried till golden brown on both sides while it’s smooth and soft inside. It’s one of the crispiest fried carrot cake I have eaten. Highly recommended to top up $0.50 for their crispy bites that really enhance the texture of every bites.

This is definitely suitable for those who love lots of dark soy sauce and I am a fan of it. Aromatic fried carrot cake coated with generous dark soy sauce.

Since I like both White and Black version, must as well go for their Taiji Carrot Cake

Union Paper Wrapped Chicken - 纸包鸡 This dish is at risk of dying out without succession.

When we talk about paper-wrapped chicken 纸包鸡 , I can only think of two in Singapore. Not sure if there is any more but you can see that this dish is at risk of dying out without succession.

One of it is the iconic Union Farm Eating House previously located Clementi Road (next to Singapore Institute of Management) which has closed in year 2017. After much persuasion from their regular customers, they have decided to re-open a stall two years ago, located at Jurong East known as Union Paper Wrapped Chicken.

The menu is very simple as they focus only on the Chicken Wrapped in Paper.

Diners usually order the Chicken Wrapped in Paper to accompany with their Egg Noodles / Bee Hoon with Oyster Sauce.

I had a small chat with the owner while he is preparing my order. He only make 200 to 250pcs paper-wrapped chicken a day just to satisfy his regular customer’s craving. In average, each customer will order min 20 pcs which means he will only fulfill 10 to 12 customers a day. If you intend to try it, do remember to call them at +65 8282 8806 to order it before making a trip down.

New Station Snack Bar - Famous for it's Salted Egg Pork Ribs

Fans of Salted Egg Yolk, this is a place that's worth a try. Conveniently located at Far East Plaza, they serves a wide varieties of Zi Char dishes including the popular Salted Egg Pork Ribs

What I like about their Salted Egg Pork Ribs is the Pork Chop are boneless and creamy salted egg sauce is flavourful yet not overpowering. Best to add on a runny fried egg.

NEW 面庄霸脞面 Bak Chor Noodle at Clementi

New Bak Chor Mee stall opened at Clementi Ave 1. Their signboard already attracted many residents around the hood like me wanting to give it a try.

The menu features their Supreme Signature Noodle, Fishball Noodles, Minced Meat Noodles, Miniwok Noodles, Pig's Liver Noodles and Laksa

I would recommend trying their Supreme Signature Noodle ($5.00) A bowl filled with minced pork, sliced pork, pig’s liver, meatball, fishball, fish cake and Imitation Abalone. Not wow but a decent bowl of BCM. Maybe because they lack the braised mushroom and pork lard.

Feng Xiang Klang Bak Kut Teh - Fried Porridge with Smoky Charred Aroma

After opening their first outlet at Kallang Bahru Ville in May 2021, Feng Xiang Klang Bak Kut Teh has their second outlet opened recently at Beauty World Centre. I came here not for their Bak Kut Teh but Fried Porridge. Not many places in Singapore offer Fried Porridge but certainly, it has gained it's popularity over the past years.

There are 8 types of fried porridge in the menu, range from $5.90 to $9.90.

Menu: Source from Feng Xiang Bak Kut Teh

What I had is the Slice Pork Fried Porridge ($5.90) The porridge has a thick and creamy texture filled with smoky charred aroma. Lusciously tender pieces of pork slices, topped with generous pork lard.

Famous Tau Suan: Zheng Xing Desserts

One of my personal favourite Tau Suan stall in Singapore, Zheng Xing Dessert with their first outlet at Albert Centre, followed by 2nd outlet opened at Beauty World Complex in July 2020.

What makes a good bowl of Tau Suan? Personally, the bowl should be filled with Generous Mung Beans. Mung Beans must not be too mushy, need to have some crunchy bites. It should not be overly thick and starchy and has the right amount of sweetness. Topped with crispy you tiao (fried dough sticks)

Aside from their famous Tau Suan, you can also find Bubur Terigu, Pulut Hitam and Green Bean & Sago in the menu. Each bowl price at $1.80. +0.20 for takeaway.
