TAI ER 太二酸菜鱼 | NEW Spicy Cereal Prawn, 2nd Outlet Opening Soon in the West & TAI ER is Accepting Walk-ins Now!

Since opening their first outlet in Singapore Aug 2021 at Jewel Changi Airport, TAI ER 太二酸菜鱼, the popular Chinese restaurant fully booked till now. I was lucky to secure a table at TAI ER for lunch gathering with friends recently.

Aside from ordering their signature dishes such as

Suancai & Fish

Fried Crispy Prawn topped with Mustard

Abalone & Shrimp in Spicy Sauce

Seaweed Roll with Salted Egg Yolk

Egg Coated Glutinous Rice Rolls with Brown Sugar

Sichuan pepper milk tea

Ice Jelly with Fruits & Coconut milk

Something caught our eye is the NEW Spicy Cereal Prawn. The Cereal prawn is deep fried till it is crispy and you can eat it with the shell, it tastes like fireworks exploding in your mouth! So shiok.

I heard that they are opening their second outlet at JEM soon! This is good news for me and especially those who stayed in the west! I was also told that you are no longer required to make a booking a week in advance, TAI ER is accepting walk-ins now!

Union Paper Wrapped Chicken - 纸包鸡 This dish is at risk of dying out without succession.

When we talk about paper-wrapped chicken 纸包鸡 , I can only think of two in Singapore. Not sure if there is any more but you can see that this dish is at risk of dying out without succession.

One of it is the iconic Union Farm Eating House previously located Clementi Road (next to Singapore Institute of Management) which has closed in year 2017. After much persuasion from their regular customers, they have decided to re-open a stall two years ago, located at Jurong East known as Union Paper Wrapped Chicken.

The menu is very simple as they focus only on the Chicken Wrapped in Paper.

Diners usually order the Chicken Wrapped in Paper to accompany with their Egg Noodles / Bee Hoon with Oyster Sauce.

I had a small chat with the owner while he is preparing my order. He only make 200 to 250pcs paper-wrapped chicken a day just to satisfy his regular customer’s craving. In average, each customer will order min 20 pcs which means he will only fulfill 10 to 12 customers a day. If you intend to try it, do remember to call them at +65 8282 8806 to order it before making a trip down.

To celebrate the opening of Shake Shack 8th outlet in Singapore at Westgate on 30 Oct 2021, they will debut a loaded Black Truffle Burger, Black Truffle Chick’n Shack and Crinkle Cut Fries topped with their black truffle sauce. The limited-time menu is available first at Shake Shack Westgate from 30 Oct 2021 and at all other Shacks from 4 Nov till 31 Dec 2021.

The Black Truffle Burger, an all-natural 100% Angus beef cheeseburger, is topped with swiss cheese, crispy fried shallots, fresh arugula and our black truffle sauce, delivering layers of rich, savory flavors.

Limited-time Black Truffle Fries are topped with the rich black truffle sauce, crispy shallots and a sprinkle of fresh scallions.

Do remember to try the Shake Shack Westgate exclusive Peelin’ Cherry-fic concrete, a re-inspiration of the classic banana split. Featuring a vanilla and chocolate custard base, the concrete is a blend of fresh bananas, caramel sauce, crunchy sugar cone shards and Lemuel chocolate chunks by home-grown Singaporean bean-to-bar chocolate maker, Ronald Ng. Topped with a cherry, the Peelin’ Cherry-fic concrete balances rich chocolatey flavors and fruity aromas.
