When we talk about paper-wrapped chicken 纸包鸡 , I can only
think of two in Singapore. Not sure if there is any more but you can see that
this dish is at risk of dying out without succession.
One of it is the iconic Union Farm Eating House previously
located Clementi Road (next to Singapore Institute of Management) which has
closed in year 2017. After much persuasion from their regular customers, they
have decided to re-open a stall two years ago, located at Jurong East known as
Union Paper Wrapped Chicken.
The menu is very simple as they focus only on the Chicken Wrapped in Paper.
Diners usually order the Chicken Wrapped in Paper to accompany with their Egg Noodles / Bee Hoon with Oyster Sauce.
I had a small chat with the owner while he is preparing my
order. He only make 200 to 250pcs paper-wrapped chicken a day just to satisfy
his regular customer’s craving. In average, each customer will order min 20 pcs
which means he will only fulfill 10 to 12 customers a day. If you intend to try
it, do remember to call them at +65 8282 8806 to order it before making a
trip down.
